Like as the Hart, (from the Book of Common Prayer 1662, Psalm 42. Like as the hart desireth the waterbrooks) seeks to express the sense of longing that so often fills the mind and heart: there are thoughts that logic and reason cannot explain. Art, music and poetry take us into a world where we may escape from the unanswerable and still experience a reality. How real are dreams, visions and the imagination? How telling is symbolism in literature?
These poems are lyrical and interested in word music. They may hint at narrative but will certainly be interested in atmosphere and mystery. They may echo other well known lines or even have flickers of a humour. There will be sorrow and joy along with a love of nature, human touch and human compassion.
