Hailing from Brooklyn, John's professional music career began in 1953 when his group was originally formed as The Troubadors, in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, New York. At the tender age of 18, John's first American tour was in 1956 with Ray Charles, The Moonglows and countless other groups. Having toured the world over the course of 70 years, John has witnessed pivotal historical and political events such as apartheid in South Africa, The Black Power Movement, Belfast Bombings and 'The British Invasion'.
