2Jesus promised the disciples they would 'speak with new tongues' (Mk 16.17). His promise was fulfilled in Acts 2.4, when they 'began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance'. Acts 2 is the only example in the New Testament where speaking in other tongues refers to clearly discernible human languages. They were languages not learned by the speaker but were recognizable by many within the audience. Jordan Daniel May has done an outstanding job of collecting and verifying instances of speaking or praying in 'other tongues' which are in real, authentic languages. These wonderful accounts of supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit will inspire and encourage both the preacher and the seeker. --Dr. George O. Wood (from the Foreword)
