Celia wants what every teenager wants: Her dad to calm down, a great friend in college, possibly a boyfriend. Her father, Andy, is like any other parent. He wants her to be successful, happy, and most importantly, safe from the zombies. The first outbreak of 2010 nearly destroyed the world, and him. After spending the last 20 years raising his daughter in seclusion to ensure their survival, he now has to let her go out into a society that is starting to rebuild.
She insists it is safe for her to participate in the first college class of the post zombie apocalypse world. After all, it is the year 2030 and none have been seen since before Celia was born. They all died out years ago.
In the back of Andy's mind, though, he knows they could always return.
