Glory Days: Stories of Growing Up in Lower Bucks County looks back on a special time in life, when we were children of the 1950s, with hardly a care in the world, secure in the knowledge that our parents had our backs and teachers would help shape us as we grew into teenagers during the tumultuous 1960s.
A total of 45 personal stories are revealed, most of them written by graying Baby Boomers who attended the same high school (Pennsbury) and lived in suburban communities located 25 miles northeast of Philadelphia.
While we didn't all experience "Glory Days," there is an innocence to those times that permeates these stories. Our group of novice writers relates stories of large families packed into small homes, enjoying birthday parties and Friday night canteens, swimming at the community pool, making new friends, and occasionally getting into trouble.
We will never forget that glorious time in our lives. This book is a tribute to that era, and to our parents who gave us a good start in life.
