5Set in the 1960s, It Is All Written tells the story of Musa Sultaan, an Iraqi Muslim student who goes to Indiana University to pursue his graduate studies and falls in love with Sandy Norman, a college senior from a small town in southern Indiana. Musa's parents don't want him to marry a girl of a different culture and religion. They have already chosen an Iraqi wife for him. Sandy's conservative parents do not want her to marry someone who plans to take their only child to a country they have never heard of. In her attempt to break up the relationship, Sandy's mother ridicules the way Musa speaks English and eats and disparages some aspects of his country's culture as being primitive. But Musa, like most Middle Easterners, believes in the proverb "What is written on the forehead, the eyes shall see." Translation: It is preordained. So to Musa, falling in love with Sandy is part of a plan that fate has written for him. And he and Sandy are destined to get married despite all the cultural, religious, and parental hurdles they face. IT IS ALL WRITTEN.
