description

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

This book includes a sample of his journalistic work through chronicles, investigations, reports, and testimonies, all written with blood, rage, pain, and a deep sadness for the lack of human decency.

On May 15th, 2017 journalist Javier Valdez Cardenas was murdered in Sinaloa. He was the author of numerous memorable and extraordinary works about the war on drugs; about the tragedy that families live every day in search for their missing sons; siblings who are forced to identify their father's corpse; and many women who are victims of their closest family members' murders.

Javier was murdered for giving a voice to these victims, for knocking down police stations' doors demanding answers, for questioning public authorities, and for disturbing the narco who, blinded by power, tortures, devours, and mercilessly kills its enemies, along with collateral victims, in order to gain better ground: that is why Javier Valdez Cardenas, a devoted journalist, family man, and a committed citizen, was killed.
