description

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

"In the long time that I have been in public affairs, in a peripheral way, I can affirm that I know the women of Mexico very well. Silent feminism is hers and mine. We have not needed further discussions to know that we deserve equity, solidarity, opportunities, a permanent 'please', an eternal 'thank you'".

In this essay, Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, who has a recognized academic career, questions fundamental ideas about feminism and how these affect her as a woman, in particular, because she is under public scrutiny as such. In the same way, she resignifies and updates three concepts, with which silent feminism is based: silence as a way of speaking, transference and resistance. She considers that most women in Mexico are capable of overcoming adverse circumstances and, in any case, that they listen, understand, and interpret; but they also struggle and make important decisions every day. There are no women, she insists, first or second class women.

"Silent feminism is, above all things, a tribute to ignored women. So that they never forget the great power they have".
