Many different circumstances can put a person's life in check, but none like the one narrated in this novel, a situation that not even its protagonist, an inmate who escaped from prison for political reasons, would have dreamed of in his worst nightmares and whose protagonist is a beast, and specifically a dog whose extreme desire for revenge and intelligence props up in his mind a single goal that he seems very capable of achieving: to kill his enemy.

This is a beautiful novel, a dance between two antagonistic forces, the human and the animal, whose qualities are reflected in each other in a pulse whose true nature only they understand and even accept.

A masterful novel, the pinnacle of Alberto Vázquez-Figueroa's literature, which will delight all readers.
