Moving from her Nashville home with her parents to a rural town in Alabama means twelve-year-old Hadley Flynn has to leave her friends behind. Though she now lives near her grandmother, she still feels lonely in what feels like the middle of nowhere.
Hadley learns about upcycled crafts, blackberry picking and family folklore during the summer when she's not trying to get out of chores. Though her grandmother's family stories entertain her, Hadley finds them hard to believe until she encounters some unusual things in the woods behind her home.
When school begins, making new friends is more challenging than she thought it would be. But as the months pass by, magical events bring unlikely new friendships.
