Between working at a publishing house and renovating a cabin in the Appalachian Mountains, Cora Lincoln is exhausted.
When her first guest fails to show up at the cabin, Cora suspects nothing. A few days later, his body is found. Cora goes into detective mode, trying to help solve his murder that bears an uncanny resemblance to a teen who suffered a similar fate years before.
Once strange things start happening at home, Cora starts to believe there's a supernatural force at play. Roping in her new friend Griffin, they start to unravel the details of the case and aren't ready for what they stumble upon.
