Sam has been alone since his society was destroyed by a xenophobic maniac. She took everything from him, and left a dangerous legacy to be passed along through generations of what was left of his people.

The magic the Ambient wield fades with every decade that passes. Sam slowly becomes aware that this has affected the entire world. But other parts of the world still have strength. And Sam finds that, once again, he is the only one who can stand up to it.
