Branded a coward and Indian lover for trying to stop some of the slaughter of peaceful Cheyennes and Arapahos at Sand Creek, Chase Tanner must live with his "shame." But he refuses to run, though several members of the Colorado militia keep dogging him with lies, even years after the event.
