Syracuse, New York, in 1983. Little Rose overcame so many traumas. She was raped, beaten, shot, and even hit by a car, but she still chose to see the beauty of life. She knew that just because horrible things happen--and boy, she endured everything imaginable--she knew that didn't decide who you were or even where you would end up someday.
