Gunner J Duck lives with his family in Northwest Arkansas where he enjoys all that life in the Ozarks has to offer. Gunner has always been known throughout his school as being a very precocious reader and a creative artist and storyteller. He was reading books at age 3 and by the time he entered kindergarten, he was reading chapter books, and testing well above his own grade level in all areas. In 2019, at age 5, Gunner's kindergarten teacher suggested that he enter a statewide book writing contest. Gunner wrote his first book titled Ninja Puppy, which won first place in the PBS Kids Writers Contest in Arkansas. He enjoyed writing his first book so much that he decided to work on his very own series. Altogether, his books have won awards in 7 different PBS Kids Writer's Contests to date. Gunner's stories are in many ways, a representation of his life and of the experiences he has had. He hopes that through his books, he can inspire children everywhere to read, imagine, set goals and work hard to reach them, be kind, and have self-control.
At the time Ninja Puppy VS Bigfoot was written, Gunner was still totally fascinated with Ninjas but now, he had a new fascination with Bigfoot and many other mysterious creatures. Gunner would go on long hikes in the woods behind his home to search for traces of the elusive Bigfoot. His family even built him his very own Bigfoot hideout tree house on their land. So, Gunner used his knowledge of Bigfoot along with what he knows about feeling nervous around new friends and wrote Ninja Puppy VS Bigfoot. In this exciting book, the Ninja Puppy family members find themselves in another messy situation when they come upon an elusive creature deep in the forest. A special part of this book is where Gunner dedicated it to his tiny baby brother and got to share the news that he was finally going to be a big brother!
Other books currently in this series include Ninja Puppy written in 2019, Ninja Puppy and the Donut Avalanche written in 2020, and Ninja Puppy in China written in 2022.
