Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric condition in youth. The lifetime prevalence rate for any anxiety disorder in adolescents is 31.9%, with an age onset of around 6 years of age. In 2020, according to the CDC, 9.5% of children were diagnosed with anxiety, with 59.3% receiving treatment. For children with anxiety, more than 1 in 3 also had behavior problems (37.9%) and about 1 in 3 also had depression (32.3%). Anxiety can lead to significant impairment in academic, social, and family functioning.
