A funny thing happened to me on the way to school. Ok, not on the way to school, but a funny thing did happen. Years ago my dad would take us to soccer games and Kung Fu movies. This and the beach were in his wheelhouse of "fun" activities. Not complaining, we got to see Pele play for the Cosmos on numerous occasions, eat a lot of NY pizza, and kick back with Bruce Lee doing his thing in "Enter The Dragon." Needless to say as a youngen, it left a lasting impression on me. Over the years, I discovered that Bruce Lee was a philosophy major, which endeared me to him that much more. In fact, after reading his writings/thoughts in "Striking Thoughts, Wisdom for Daily Living," I would bring it up in conversations to anyone that would listen.
Just recently, one day out of the blue, my husband announced that he signed me up to Kung Fu class. Why? Well, for the most part, he probably got an earful on the topic but mostly for me to get some self-defense skills. Funny, yes?
He went online to explore options for training and spoke to the folks at Denver Kung Fu. They walked him through the centuries-old Ving Tsun concepts and theories and that was it, I have been practicing ever since. The first six months as you train, your body adjusts to the forms and workouts and your mind can't help but follow in the sense that you become more in tune with your surroundings. Training sharpens your thoughts as well as your peripheral awareness. Although I am the slow kid in the class, I have progressed enough to know there is a difference in my abilities to learn the more difficult concepts both in training and real life. I highly recommend doing something new to refresh old habits and this is what Kung Fu does for me. This year will be three years since I started and although COVID is taking a toll on the hands-on practice with others, the online teachings are of great benefit as well.

I am on a quest to find stylish women’s clothing made in the USA. After several weeks of searching online, it’s become an obsession because there seem to be very few choices available. As an example, a search for “American made clothing” on Google will result in plenty of options for utility clothing, (mostly due to government contracts), solid-colored tee’s or tee ...
I'm not quite sure when my love of cool gadgets and technology fully formed...but I must admit it has become somewhat of an addiction. The addiction spans from collecting kitchen gadgets to online tools that at the moment are a must until the next faster, prettier, thing comes along. This week’s example of what caught my attention and “a must-have” was at an online ...
My husband and I planned a cross-country road trip to Florida from Denver, CO. We planned this drive to visit family, but truth be told, mostly to break the monotony that COVID has imposed on our lives. Yes, safety first, but off we went! I mention this trip in the context of having to pack weather-appropriate, semi-casual, and versatile clothing for hot weather. In this regard, ...
